1. Alabama vs. 4.
UCLA
After
upsetting Oregon in the PAC-12 title game, UCLA narrowly beats out Baylor for
the 4th spot in the tournament (Good call on not need a Big 12 title
game commish). However this will be the peak of the Bruins season. Alabama,
used to the bright lights, defeats UCLA in a very Alabama type way, low-scoring
ball control, keeps Brett Hundley at bay and ends UCLA’s season. But it’s a
great step for UCLA with USC on the heels of the Bruins, for control of the
Pac-12 South. If UCLA can make the final four, they should be able to keep
their position as permanent contender in the PAC-12.

2. Ohio State vs. 3.
Florida State
Which
would be a very anticipated matchup between the redeeming Ohio State Buckeyes
and the defending champions Florida State Seminoles, this would be a matchup
that many expected to be last year’s National Championship. While the Noles
have the experience, this game will prove too much for the depleted Seminoles
as a lot of that experience is now playing in the NFL. Ohio State finally
learns how to win those big games, but beating Florida State, in somewhat
convincing fashion.

STATE-20
Heisman Trophy
Winner: Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon
The
week 2 matchup against Michigan State is going to separate Mariota from the
rest of the pack to the point where nobody will be able to catch up. The
Spartans roll into Autzen Stadium on the second week of the season, boasting
one of the best defenses in the nation. But Mariota speed, improved pocket
presence, and decision-making will solidify Mariota as the best in the nation.
There should not be a game this season where Mariota does not have less than
350-400 total yards of offense. If Mariota can set the tone against Michigan
State, he will hoisting up the Heisman.
National
Championship: 1. Alabama vs. 2. Ohio State
Its
another round between the two best football coaches in the last 30 years
between Nick Saban and Urban Meyer.
Meyer finally gets the Buckeyes to the National Championship, which
should solidify Ohio State as the main (and probably the only) power in the
North (especially in terms of recruiting). Getting to the National Championship
you would think would be enough for Ohio State, but it ends up being a tight
affair. This is not your typically Ohio State team, like the one in the
Tressel-Era which could not contend with any of the SEC powers. Instead the
hiring of Meyer really pays off as his own experience in the SEC which will
prove to be significant against the Tide. But Alabama has a great coach of
their own, and the playmakers of Alabama ends up making more big plays than
Ohio State at the end.
