Game of the
Week: Georgia 31 @ Tennessee 28 OT
It
is hard to prioritize each week exactly who you are going to sit down and
watch. College Football airs on ten different channels so to try and search
through each game to find a classic (and let’s be honest, you can’t have more
than three televisions in your living room…its just tacky). But if you want a
guaranteed great game to watch every week, just find the channel that is
showing the Georgia game, and you will not be disappointed.
Most
people were expecting Georgia to take care of the lowly Vols fairly easily, but
going on the road after an emotionally spent game last week against LSU, the
Dawgs had all they could handle. Tennessee had the game won until the fumble in
near the goal-line but Rajion Neal’s 148 yards on the ground and two scores
were not enough to hold off Aaron Murray and upstart freshman J.J. Green who
ran for over 120 yards in place of Todd Gurley.
Another
win for the Dawgs, who continue to make their national championship contention
case. But watch carefully as you will begin to hear Aaron Murray’s name
continue to rise on draft boards.
Player of the Week:
Carlos Hyde, RB, Ohio State
Ohio
State needed every single yard of the 168 that Hyde ran for to beat
Northwestern last night. Ohio State really struggled to move the ball last
night, while Braxton Miller had one of his worst games of the year. Miller’s
only saving grace was his ability to check down and find Hyde out of the
backfield, which continued to keep the chains moving for the Buckeyes. Ohio
State just keeps finding ways to win…it sickens every Michigan fan.
Disappointment of the
Week: West Virginia
Its
not that I expected West Virginia to beat Baylor in Waco last night, I just
expected them to hold them under 45 (I don’t think that was asking much). But
Baylor put 73 against WVU who was coming off a huge upset over Oklahoma State.
Its another 60+ point week for the Bears, but it is hard to judge just how good
this offense is and West Virginia was supposed to be the beginning of the
measuring stick but instead they were just a stick in the mud.
Game To Watch: No. 2
Oregon @ No. 15 Washington
Washington
put up one hell of a fight against Stanford in Stanford last night, so you
better believe they will more than ready to defend their home turf against the
Ducks. Oregon has not played a true contender all year and this will be their
first big test of the year. With all the talk about the SEC being the best
conference in football, and rightfully so, the PAC-12 is going to make some
noise this year to be the 2nd best conference. Oregon, Stanford,
Washington, Oregon State, UCLA will all be making a run for the PAC 12 title
and whenever these 5 teams matchup against each other, it should be an instant
classic.
