The Baseball Review: April & May

With the first two months of the baseball season done, or in baseball terms the first three innings, the baseball season has had some predictable and not so predictable outcomes thus far. Predictable outcomes like Mike Trout is the best player in baseball, the Cardinals, Nationals and Dodgers still rule the National League and the Rockies have still not having traded Troy Tulowitzki, are all predictable. But the Twins and Astros leading their respective divisions? The Mets a ½ game back of the Nationals without David Wright? And what in God’s name is in Alex Rodriguez? It’s probably steroids. All that and more in the Baseball Review!

We Need More Football

Why is there no football in April, May and June? Seriously why? Football is by far the most popular sport in America, and it seems fans can never get enough of it. If the counter argument to that is because it can’t compete with the NHL and/or NBA playoffs, that how do you explain the NFL draft getting better ratings? Translation: Most Americans would rather watch football players not playing football, than any other sport, playing their sport. Now perhaps that is too literal, but there is room for a little football season to hold us over the spring and early summer months to get us through.

How the Knicks will make the playoffs...by next season

Another NBA season is coming to close, and for Knick fans across the country; the NBA season ended before it even began. After losing a franchise record 65 games, its star playing choosing to end his season after he played in a very important All-Star game, so the Knicks were forced to sacrifice their season by playing the likes of D-league players, who might not play in the D-League next season. Finally after finally achieving the 2nd worst record in the NBA (which could have been the worst record if they did not win 2 of their last 3) the Knicks got the 4th overall pick in the NBA draft lottery.  If their plan was to sit Carmelo, secure one of the worst records, to obtain the likes of a Jahlil Okafor or Karl Anthony-Towns, two of the best prospects…well that plan did not work.

Preakness Preview & Predictions by Ryan Henderson

And they’re off.

Saturday May 16th marks the start of the 140th Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore Maryland – here is hoping the civil unrest has quieted down enough to ensure that this event goes off without a bang (pun intended!).  After my last column regarding the Kentucky Derby, I am not too upset with the results of my bets – yes I won $0.00, but I had a great time losing my money and feel that if anything, it has taught me a little bit about this year’s field of horses and what to expect at Pimlico.

The True Meaning of Deflate-Gate: Part II

Tom Brady's Legacy

“He’s a system quarterback.”

“He would be nothing without Belichick”

“He had all of those great defenses.”

“Anybody could do what Brady did with Randy Moss.”

“He would be nothing without Adam Vinateri winning those Super Bowls.”

“If Chad Pennington had what Brady had...”
